What is a subscription?

A MyHomeTutor subscription gives a family access to mathematics and/or English grammar for a one month or 12 month period. All payments are monthly, which makes it affordable for all families. With each subscription you can enrol up to 5 students for the one low monthly price on the subjects selected. These 5 accounts can be accessed anywhere, anytime, on any computer that has a web browser and broadband access, allowing all students to study at their own pace.

Does MyHomeTutor support what is taught at school?

MyHomeTutor supports all state curricula (NSW, VIC, QLD, ACT, SA, NT, TAS and WA) and should a curriculum change it is modified to ensure that your children are always studying what is currently being taught at their school.

Lessons

There are over 2000 lessons available with mathematics and English grammar covering the core subjects taught at school. The lessons can be used to help with homework, prepare for examinations and most importantly, used to provide a learning platform to ensure understanding, which builds self-confidence.

Random questions

MyHomeTutor questions are randomly generated which allows your children to repeat lessons with different questions presented every time. The ability to repeat a lesson when required, helps the children to fully understand and retain the learning outcomes.

Pre-test lessons

Each MyHomeTutor lesson has a pre-test exercise. This allows the system to measure your child's current understanding of the selected lesson materials and assists in identifying if they need additional assistance, or can attempt the examination. All questions have instant feedback and avoid unnecessary frustration by immediately highlighting any weaknesses. If your child has difficulties with any of the questions in the pre-test exercise they are able to immediately watch the video tutorial for a thorough understanding.

Tutorials

MyHomeTutor video tutorials are presented by a teacher using the latest teaching methods, similar to those used in schools today. Using this method helps your child take what they have learnt at home and apply it in the classroom at school.

Your child controls the pace of the teacher's presentation by using the video functions that allow for rewinding and replaying. It’s like asking their teacher to repeat any part of the lesson if there is doubt of complete understanding. No embarrassment! No peer pressure!

Exams

Each MyHomeTutor lesson has an exam. The exam mode although similar to the pre-test mode is an entirely new set of questions and allows only one attempt for each question and the feedback is provided upon completion of the examination set of questions.  The results menu displays exactly how your child performed and shows the incorrect questions, which they can activate to display the correct answer.

Results of each exam are recorded and stored for both you and your children to monitor. An examination can be repeated at any time, remembering that a new set of questions will be randomly generated for each attempt.

Reports

MyHomeTutor reporting system records all the examination results for each student showing the date of the exam, percentage of the video tutorial watched, number of lesson questions, number of questions correct, final mark as a percentage and their status showing if they have passed, failed or did not complete the lesson.

Parent administration

As a parent, you are able to reset courses and lessons for each child, change the mastery score (pass mark), change your child's password, review each child's progress and statistical reports both on screen and with printed reports and add a new family member as a student to the program as well as edit your own profile.

Student administration

Your children are able to review their own progress and statistical reports and edit their own individual password and e-mail address.

Tutor support

Both you and your children are able to email a MyHomeTutor tutor in relation to MyHomeTutor lessons and school related issues.
